La sede è situata in un prestigioso palazzo storico, in pieno centro a due passi dal Duomo e da Piazza della Signoria. I corsi si svolgono in aule grandi e luminose, da dove si possono ammirare scorci suggestivi sulla città, e dove al loro interno sono esposte tavole originali di autori che sono intervenuti nei nostri corsi o che insegnano nella nostra Sede. Tutto ciò contribuisce a creare un luogo di fervente creatività e di stimolante atmosfera culturale. La Scuola offre una ricca Biblioteca e inoltre mette a disposizione degli studenti numerosi servizi ed attrezzature: computers, tv color,tavoli luminosi, telecamera verticale e banchi ottici, nonchè una postazione internet disponibile tutti i giorni. La nostra Sede propone corsi di specializzazione ed approfondimento nelle arti grafiche: dal Fumetto all' Illustrazione, dall'Animazione alla Grafica 3D, dalla Grafica tradizionale al Web Design. Tra le più importanti in Italia, è riconosciuta dal mondo professionale, grazie anche all'inserimento di molti studenti nei diversi settori lavorativi.
LA SCUOLA OGGI - Un Luogo di sperimentazione artistica
La velocità , il dinamismo, la nascita delle nuove idee, sono gli elementi che caratterizzano la creatività dei giovani talenti. Si muovono in un mondo in continua trasformazione, dove l'immaginario diventa reale e tangibile e sono cosè possibili nuove ipotesi e nuovi sviluppi e la creazione di nuove realtà. E' possibile unire le più alte tecnologie alle opere murarie estemporanee dei graffitari ed ottenere un nuovo stile grafico, che diventa movimento, si anima e viaggia in Internet entrando nella web community e producendo a sua volta un nuovo input che continuerà a viaggiare, diventando forse videoclip, film 3d o fumetto interattivo. La sensazione è quella di una esplosiva mente artistica che vuole esprimersi in tutte le direzioni. La Scuola internazionale di Comics si fa promotrice di questo processo creativo: sviluppare le conoscenze tecniche ed artistiche attraverso l'esercizio, la conoscenza e l'uso dei materiali, l'uso del computer e dei programmi di grafica e di animazione, e soprattutto, condurre ciascuno studente all'espressione di un suo personale percorso creativo.
LA SCUOLA E IL MONDO PROFESSIONALE NELLA SUA REGIONE
Nella sua costante crescita, la Scuola Internazionale di Comics ha raggiunto un ruolo fondamentale nel panorama delle Scuole d' Arte di Firenze, città d'arte per eccellenza. La Scuola va a coprire campi artistici e professionali importanti, che corrispondono a settori in grande sviluppo anche nella Regione Toscana. E' un nuovo concetto di Scuola che si muove su più livelli, facendo interagire le diverse applicazioni, coinvolgendo autori ed artisti, tecnici e professionisti, un nuovo centro creativo. Un ambiente stimolante per quei giovani che vogliono mettere in campo i propri talenti. Il Fumetto , le Tecniche di Animazione, l'Illustrazione e la Grafica Pubblicitaria, offrono oggi a molti nostri allievi opportunità di lavoro anche ad alti livelli all'interno di Studi o Agenzie.
La storia della sede di Firenze
I primi corsi sperimentali furono organizzati nel 1993 in collaborazione con l'Ente Autonomo M.M. Garnier a Lucca (città che ospita ormai da più di venti anni, "Lucca Comics" la più importante manifestazione italiana del fumetto). Nel tempo la città di Lucca si rivelà difficilmente raggiungibile da studenti e disegnatori che collaboravano con la Scuola. Venne deciso il trasferimento nella città di Firenze. La Sede di Firenze della Scuola Internazionale di Comics nasce nel 1995 in un caratteristico fondo a Borgo Pinti, dove si organizzavano corsi di Tecnica del Fumetto e Illustrazione. La nuova Sede cresce rapidamente e si arricchisce di nuovi corsi, stage e incontri sempre più importanti, diventando punto di incontro tra autori, professionisti ed appassionati.

Attività editoriale con pubblicazioni di albi e riviste realizzate con le migliori opere degli studenti. Organizzazione di Mostre di Autori ed a favore di campagne sociali e mostre collettive degli studenti su temi specifici e vicini al settore grafico e illustrativo.

Everything here contributes to the intense, creative, cultural atmosphere that surrounds the school. Course Offerings
The school offers courses of specialization as well as professional development in graphic arts: Traditional Graphics, Comic Book, Graphics, Illustration, Web Design, Animation, 3D Graphics . Students can often find valuable work experiences due to the fact that the school is among the most important in Italy recognized by professional studios and agencies in a variety of sectors.
The School Today: A place for artistic experimentation
Dynamic exchange and the constant, sprouting and sharing of new ideas, are elements that characterize creativity among young, talented individuals. They move in a world of constant transformation, where imagination becomes real and tangible and where new hypotheses and new developments create a new reality. It’s possible to unite state-of-the-art technology with extemporaneous graffiti art to arrive at a new graphic style, in a movement that is kept alive over the internet, entering in web communities and producing new input that will continue to live in different forms: perhaps as videoclips, 3D film or interactive comics. The sensation is that of a COLLECTIVE, explosive, artistic mind that wants to find expressive outlets everywhere, at 360 degrees. The International School of Comics provides fertile ground for creative expression: combining the acquisition of technical expertise and artistic know-how with the knowledge of materials, computer skills, graphic arts and animation software programs, and most importantly, the direction that each student needs to discover his/here personal artistic path.
The school and the workplace
As part of its continual growth, the International School of Comics has developed an important relationship with the various Art Schools in Florence, the city of Art par excellence. The school prepares students for a vast array of possible professions throughout Tuscany. It embraces a new concept of an educational institution that is present at different levels of involvement, integrating various applications of skills, encouraging and welcoming the participation of authors and artists, technicians and professionals – in a new creative hub. A stimulating environment is created for students who want to put their individual talent to the test, in productive work experiences within different types of creative agencies that can take advantage of students’ skills in comic book and traditional illustration, animation, and graphics for advertising.
Illustrious Beginning…
Actually, the school’s first experimental classes in 1993, did not take place in Florence, but in the Tuscan city of Lucca, in collaboration with an important government agency there, M.M. Garnier. Lucca, is not only a world famous city of art and the birthplace of composer Puccini, but is also home to the second largest Comics Trade Fair, “Lucca Comics” (second largest in Europe after the Bandes Dessinée d’Angouleme in France and third largest in the works after the Comiket di Tokyo). Due to the fact that Lucca proved to be a difficult location for students to get to, The International School of Comics transferred to Florence in 1995. The new Florentine location was situated in a wonderfully characteristic borgo, or small village dating back to midaevil times, Borgo Pinti, where courses for general illustration and techniques of comic book art had already been underway. It did not take long for this unique initiative to gain momentum and get noticed; the new Florence location grew quickly, and thanks to numerous apprenticeship opportunities, creative courses and workshops, became an important meeting place for comic book authors/professionals, students, and passionate followers of this art form.
Other Activities
Students can participate in various editorial initiatives such as specialized magazines and themed publications showcasing the best student work. In addition, the school organizes: exhibits of successful artists; projects for social causes; and exhibits of student art.
Special Student Benefits
Students enrolled at the International School of Comics are able to obtain a special student rate for public transportation throughout the city of Florence.
